HIP Magazine has travelled across seven regions of the UK on a quest to find the 2018 HIP UK Heating Apprentice of the Year and now the eight finalists have been confirmed.

The finalists consist of the seven regional heat winners and the highest runner-up overall scorer, so there will be eight people participating in the final in total, which will take place at the ADEY Training and Conference Centre on 25th and 26th April.

Here are the finalists attending:

North East – Jonathan Caisley, Tyne Metropolitan College

North West – Luke Jones, Coleg Llandrillo

South West – Tom Moys, PETROC

Wales – Luke Evans, Gower College Swansea

Midlands – Joshua Paul, Boston College

South East – Anthony Iacovazzo, Norwich College

Northern Ireland – Shane Murray, Southern Regional College

Highest runner-up overall scorer – Jay Mallen, New College Durham

They will be given a task in the form of a drawing that they will have to complete in their individual bays across the two days.

Just like the year before, the prizes up for grabs will be worth a staggering £9,000 from the competition’s sponsors.

Platinum sponsor ADEY alone will give the winner £1,000 in cash and their college £1,000 also, as well as a MagnaClean kit, and the runner-up will receive £500 cash and their college will have that cash matched too. Combine these with the prizes being donated by the gold, silver and bronze sponsors and the amount the winner, runner-up, ‘most improved’ and each finalist will be taking home is going to be spectacular.

Who will be the HIP UK Heating Apprentice of the Year 2018 winner? Only time will tell!
