He was one of nine competitors battling it out that day.

Read on to find out the awesome way that Daniel managed to get his apprenticeship…

How did you find the regional heat?

I entered because my college asked me to after we did an in-house competition. It was fun and a really good experience.

What was the most difficult part of today’s competition?

Waiting for the result.

Are you looking forward to the Final?

Yes, it will be fun!

What attracted you to a career in the plumbing and heating industry?

I meant to go into the army but I failed my medical because I have a blood disorder so the college asked me if I wanted to try plumbing and I really like it.

Where are you doing your apprenticeship and what will your employer think of your success so far in the competition?

DTR Gas and Heating Specialists, Mirfield. I think he’ll be proud of me.

How did you get an apprenticeship?

I won another competition which was run internally by the college and after I’d won my employer offered me a job.

What do you dislike the most about the plumbing and heating industry?

Long hours – we’ve been working in Glasgow lately doing 20-hour days.

What did you have for breakfast?

Nothing!

What’s your favourite song at the moment?

Rag’n’Bone Man – Human.

What’s your favourite TV show?

Storage Hunters.
