WIT Conference set to be the biggest ever

The second annual Women Installers Together (WIT) Conference is set to be the biggest ever gathering of female installers and gas engineers.

The event, which is due to take place in London on Wednesday, July 4, celebrates the achievements and independence of women in the plumbing and gas industry.

The event is also geared at addressing isolation; one of the biggest issues faced by female plumbers and gas engineers.

Event organisers Stopcocks Women Plumbers and partners Polypipe are delighted at the response from both industry and installers.

Stopcocks Founder Hattie Hasann said: “I wouldn’t have believed we could start from nowhere and manage to get so much positive engagement, it’s a very proud moment.

“For the first time we are bringing together as many trainees as we can, and introducing them to potential employers and showing that there is a huge interest in taking on the challenge to make this wonderful industry as attractive to women as we can.

“There are many ways women can find a place in plumbing and gas engineering, and the WIT conference aims to celebrate not only what has been done, but also what can be done in the future.”

The event is held at The Building Centre in central London and has many first-time sponsors, as well as returning sponsors from last year’s event.

Those sponsoring the event are headline sponsor Graham The Plumber’s Merchant, Kier Group, Redrow Homes, Fernox, Impey Showers, Vaillant UK, Calor, Monument Tools, and Base PPE with Brian Hyde Ltd.

Event organiser Mica May, from Stopcocks, said: “To get this level of fantastic support from new and returning sponsors shows there’s a willingness in the industry to facilitate change.”
