We had a chat with Callum Westphal, the first ever HIP Apprentice of the Month!
The HIP Apprentice of the Month award celebrates students and apprentices who are passionate about the future of the plumbing & heating industry, going above and beyond in their apprenticeships to set the standards of the industry.
HIP has launched the award to recognise the efforts that students and apprentices have put into learning the trade.
Callum was nominated by his employer, Green Brick Projects in Norfolk, and was chosen as the first ever Apprentice of the Month after a week of voting and testimonials on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

It's time to announce the first ever winner of the HIP Apprentice of the Month award! Both Callum and Sophie's stories really impressed both us and @dewalttoolsuk, but Callum has won the award and will receive a £300 brushless hammer drill and impact driver kit! Massive congratulations Callum! #HIPAOTM
The award was sponsored by DeWalt, who sent City College Norwich student Callum a £300 18v XR Brushless Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Kit.
Our runner-up was Sophie Bateup from Pimlico Plumbers.
Callum, 17, was nominated for the following reason by Ryan London, the company’s Director: “Callum is a very polite and punctual person and often gets complimented on these two assets. Since Callum’s first day of work, he has been enthusiastic and always wanting to learn.
“Callum’s work is always very precise and always very neat and his attention to detail is on point. Callum is by far the best apprentice we’ve ever had and makes teaching him a breeze.”
