Competitions (magazine and online)
- HIP Magazine promotions are open to UK residents who are studying for plumbing qualifications and/or working in the plumbing and heating industry.
- Entry excludes employees of SNG Publishing, members of their families and anyone directly involved with the promotion.
- Entrants are bound by these terms & conditions.
- No purchase necessary. One entry per person. No bulk or third party entries.
- Prizes must be accepted as offered. No cash alternative. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.
- Prizes are as described.
- The winner(s) will be selected from correct entries received.
- Winner(s) will be notified within 28 days of the closing date.
- Winner(s) may be required to take part in any publicity resulting from the competition and the promoter reserves the right to feature the name, photograph and details of the prize winner for future promotions.
- If you enter any competitions with sponsors it may be necessary for us to provide your personal information to the promoters of the competition or to others that are involved in the organisation of the competition or the prize-giving.
Learner Of The Year Competition 2024
Participant Rules
- Only one participant can be entered per college or campus.
- The Lecturer MUST accompany the participant & attend the ‘Meet The Manufacturer’ event.
- The participant must be 24 years or under on the date of application.
- The participant must not have previously reached any final of the HIP Learner of the Year competition.
- The participant is a level 2 or 3 student.
- The participant/lecturer must truthfully and accurately complete the application form. If you supply or have supplied any untruthful, inaccurate or misleading details and/or information and/or have failed to abide by the Rules the participant may be disqualified.
- The lecturer must ensure that any additional requirements for the participant are detailed on the application form.
- The participant/lecturer agree not to distribute any piece of negative PR verbally or in writing on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn or any other public platforms.
- Other than personally identifiable information, any information you provide shall be considered non–confidential and non–proprietary.
- The participant will adhere to all Health & Safety rules and guidance.
- The participant will wear the competition t–shirt at all times.
- The participant warrants they are in good health and have no health problems that might stop them from participating fully in the competition.
- The participant/lecturer may not take photos of the competition until permission is granted and no photos are to be published on public forums until all the regional events have taken place. This is so no participant has an unfair advantage.
- The participant and their colleges/employers may use the official competition photographs after all the regional heats have been completed.
- By taking part in the competition, competitors are allowing SNG Publishing to use the photos and any materials, videos and images taken on the day for use on the HIP website, social media pages, promotion of the HIP Learner of the Year events, PR content print and online, editorial, advertising and advertorial content, trade press and competition promotion print and online, and educational or internal purposes.
- Prizes must be accepted as offered. No cash alternative.
- If you are the regional competition winner, you must be in attendance at the presentation or you will be disqualified.
- The winners of the regional heats must be prepared to take part in the Grand Final, taking place in April 2024.
- The judges’ decisions are final.
On the Day
- All competitors must arrive by 8am on the day of the Regional Heat.
- Competitors will start and finish work as instructed by the judges.
- Competitors who arrive late for their competition will not receive additional time support.
- No mobile telephones are allowed in the competition workshops. These will be collected from you at the start of the day and you will be granted access to them during specified break times and after the competition has finished.
- Photographs will be taken during the event that may be used for marketing/publicity purposes – if the competitor/support staff cannot have their photo taken it is the responsibility of the college entering the competition to notify the organisers beforehand and at the event.
- If there is a power stoppage, breakdown of equipment or accident, the competitors must act according to the instructions of the organiser.
- The competitors’ name must correspond to the name submitted on the application form. The organisers will only deviate from this rule in the case of exceptional circumstances, to be determined at the organisers’ sole discretion.
- During the HIP Learner of the Year, you and all others in your party agree to adhere to the rules and regulations of the venue and all Health & Safety guidance and requirements of the venue/college.
Admission
- To gain entry to the HIP Learner of the Year Regional Heat and Grand Final events, you must be pre–registered and your name must be on the registration list on the day of the event. This includes all competitors, college staff, employers and spectators. HIP reserves the right to refuse entry to anyone attempting to gain entry without prior registration.
- By attending the HIP Learner of the Year Regional Heats and/or Grand Final you agree to comply with any age restrictions that apply at the venue, as well as the laws and regulations of England and Wales.
- The right to admission to the HIP Learner of the Year Regional Heats and Grand Final is reserved by HIP and the venues, who may take health and safety, environmental and security concerns into account, and may carry out security searches. You consent to such searches and waive any related claims that may arise from such a search. If you elect not to consent to being searched, you may be denied entry to the HIP Learner of the Year Regional Heats and/or Grand Final.
General
- SNG Publishing reserves the right in its absolute discretion to, acting in the interests of fairness, add to or waive any of these terms and conditions. SNG Publishing reserves the right to cancel the competition at any stage, in the event of circumstances arising beyond its reasonable control.
- By entering this competition, entrants will be deemed to be bound by and have accepted these terms and conditions and the Privacy Policy found on our website.
- Please note that the venue management and SNG Publishing accept no responsibility for any loss, damage or, theft of personal property taken into the HIP Learner of the Year Regional Heat and Grand Final venues.
- SNG Publishing reserves the right in its absolute discretion to disqualify any individual who conducts themselves in any manner that may bring HIP, its sponsors or its affiliates into disrepute. This includes, but is not limited to, bullying or aggressive behaviour towards others (for example only, threats or violence towards members of staff, crew, other entrants and/or venue staff), racism, homophobia, misogyny, religious intolerance.
Female Skills Competition 2024
Participant Rules
- Only one participant can be entered per college or campus.

- Applicants who have reached the final previously cannot be entered into the competition again.
- The participant is a level 2 or 3 student who identifies as a female.
- The participant/lecturer must truthfully and accurately complete the application form. If you supply or have supplied any untruthful, inaccurate or misleading details and/or information and/or have failed to abide by the Rules the participant may be disqualified.
- The participant/lecturer agree not to distribute any piece of negative PR verbally or in writing on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn or any other public platforms.
