Meet September’s HIP Learner of the Month winner!
Ryan Birnie won the September HIP Learner of the Month award – we caught up with him to find out what it means to win.
To enter, plumbing and heating students and apprentices must tag us in a photo of their work on social media and use #HIPLOTM. Our favourites (up to a maximum of eight) then go to a public vote at the end of the month before a winner is crowned. For full entry info, click here.
Fiona, a Level 3 diploma student at Pembrokeshire College who is working with NMG Plumbing, was October’s winner after receiving the most public votes and won a plumbing tool bundle from award sponsor Knipex.
Fiona, 33, said: “I am so proud and happy to be HIP’s October Learner of the Month and will share my prize with my boss Nick. I have long aspired to be a plumber but had to wait until my children were of an age where it wasn’t selfish for me to pursue my own dreams.”
The photo she submitted to the award was the work she completed for her unvented college assessment.
Upon completion of her Level 3 Diploma, she plans to complete her apprenticeship with her current company.
Her favourite things about the industry? “The friendships I’ve made, especially from my fellow tradie ladies – particularly Jade the Plumber, the kindness and support from everyone, and overcoming the challenges we face daily as plumbers. It is such a rewarding career and I am enjoying my journey so much!”
Congratulations, Fiona! Entries are now open for the November award, with a great DeWALT combi drill kit on offer to the winner!
